About Artist:
Mavis Jugadai Napaltjarri is the niece of renowned indigenous artist Willy Tjungurrayi.
She was taught to paint by her mother Telow Nungala at Papunya during the 1990’s.
Whilst never rising to great prominence thus far, Mavis is passionate about her
painting. The subject of her art centres around Kardinyanya, a large hill outside of
Papunya. This is the country of Yalka Dreaming, the bush onion. This dreaming was
passed down through her father.
Mavis is marred to David Tjangala Brown from Kiwirrkurra and has three sons.
