HOW TO BUY

So you’ve found the piece you like? At present, we have several methods of purchasing it:

· Via PayPal;

· Cheque;

· Bank Transfer; or

· Via other agreed method following contact with the gallery.

However, first we recommend that you make contact with us to discuss the work, ask any questions you may have and perhaps get more detailed images sent to you so you can see the technique more clearly.

It is also important that we discuss with you and understand, your stretching, delivery, freight and insurance needs so that everything goes smoothly for you.

There are several methods of purchase: Paypal, Cheque, Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard and Amex), direct Bank Transfer into our account (this is our preferred method) or other type of transfer via bank or other institution. In all cases of course, works are not released until the funds are cleared in our account.

Following clearance, the work will be despatched to you, or be ready for collection, as soon as your delivery instructions can be met.

PAYPAL: Simply click on the ‘purchase this work’ button next to the image of the painting on our website and follow the prompts. If you are not yet a member of Pay Pal, you will be given the opportunity to join during the process.

CHEQUE: Post bank or personal cheque to the Kate Owen Gallery, 680 Darling Street, Rozelle, NSW 2039 Australia. Once our bank has cleared the cheque, we will prepare the work for delivery or collection.

CREDIT CARD: Credit card payments may be made by phone to the gallery. Your receipt and tax invoice will be posted to you with the work.

DIRECT BANK TRANSFER: This is our preferred method. Payment should be made to the following account:

Bank: Westpac
Account Name: Kate B Owen
BSB: 032020
Account Number: 226812

If you are outside Australia, you will also need the bank’s SWIFT CODE which is WPACAU2S.

OTHER TYPE OF TRANSFER: Contact us to discuss the method of payment you prefer.

WHAT GUARANTEES DO I HAVE?

We guarantee all our artwork. If you are not happy that the artwork supplied to you matches information and images you were supplied, we will be happy to listen and resolve your concerns with you. This hasn’t happened yet but be assured, we do not want any client of this gallery to be disappointed with the work they purchase and we will make sure it never happens.

CERTIFICATION of AUTHENTICITY

Indigenous work needs full authentication due to a minority of unscrupulous persons in the industry. All our work is obtained through sources which can be trusted to oversee and ensure that the artist concerned completed the work in full on a voluntary basis and that the artist was fairly paid for the work. Our suppliers work closely and respectfully with the artists and see that their family and personal needs are met at all times.

We issue a folder containing a Certificate of Authenticity with all Aboriginal artworks;
A biography and photo of the artist;
A photo of the artist holding your artwork or, in the case of major works, a series of work in progress photos (or CD/DVD if these are available).

Certificates of Authenticity and Bio’s may also be provided with the work of other (western) artists upon request. However, these works are usually signed and dated on the front and/or back by the artist.

IF YOU ARE UNSATISFIED WITH THE WORK YOU HAVE PURCHASED

Please contact us as soon as you receive the work if you find it is not what you expected. We make every effort to describe and portray works as they are but if you are not happy then we are not happy. We will work with you to resolve any problem that might arise in a fair and reasonable way. This may include refund of money paid, exchange of works, credit to your account with us, or some other arrangement that will suit you. Our customers are very important to us and it is paramount to us to see that all are extremely happy with the artwork they purchase from the Kate Owen Gallery.

PERKS FOR LOCAL BUYERS – TAKE THE WORK HOME ‘ON APPRO’

If you are a Sydney customer, you get some special deals.We are happy to allow customers to take works home for a few days to see how they fit in their house/building and to spend time getting to know the paintings. . This is because it sometimes takes a while for a customer to realise what works really speak to them and work in their own environment. Sometimes a painting that looks wonderful in a gallery, does not suit the building it is intended for – and vice versa. There is no obligation to this service and no limit to the number of works a customer can take home before they settle on the right work.

LAY-BYES

We also offer lay-byes to customers who wish to pay for the painting over a period of time. Usually these are for a period of three months but extended periods can be arranged in special circumstances. Please ask our friendly staff about our lay-bye policy.

DISCOUNTS FOR VALUED CUSTOMERS

Of course we want to reward our loyal customers. If you have bought at our gallery before, please contact Kate to discuss further purchases. She may be able to give you a discount if the piece you choose allows it. Similarly, if you introduce your friends to the gallery and they purchase works, you will be eligible for a discount on your next purchase. Please speak to Kate about this.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING IN PARTICULAR

If you want a particular kind of work by a particular artist, please advise us. We are able to source an enormous range of work from a very diverse group of artists and your request can be quite specific. For living artists, we frequently commission work and do not normally charge a premium for doing so. Our range of suppliers is comprehensive and we welcome the challenge to source hard to get pieces for our clients.

Buyers of Kate Owen’s work can advise her of their requirements. As long as the work is not outside her range of current work, there is no additional cost for works that are commissioned.
