Yimula Mununggurr's moiety is Dhuwa. She is from the Djapu, Balamumu clan, and her homelands are Wandaway and Buku-dal. Wandway is south of Gove and Buku-dal is north of Blue Mud Bay in Arnhem Land, NT. Her mother is Burrtjalk and her father is Wurrayarra, a son of the great warrior Wonggu Mununggurr.
Yimula has worked as an artist for several years and is developing a precise hand on paintings and larrakitj memorial poles of her own Djapu clan as well as her mother's Madarrpa clan.
In 2019 she was a finalist in the 36th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards.
