Dorothy paints her custodial country of "Mina Mina" a major ceremonial site at Lake MacKay in the Tanami Desert, north of Yuendumu in Central Australia. Dorothy uses unique techniques to portray the landscape of her country, sometimes represented as an aerial interpretation and at other times microscopic and highly detailed. The site of Mina Mina is made up of two enormous claypans that rarely fill with water. When it rains and the water soaks into the ground, small areas of the earth dry out at the edges, becoming delineated with salt. The lines of white dots represent the salt crystals that have formed on the surface.
