Explore Aboriginal Art Collections

We have gone through all of our stunning Australian Aboriginal artworks (a mere 2,000+ of them) and compiled the following collections and themes for you to explore at your leisure. Our interactive art search bar also contains a whole lot of other search criteria to help you find the perfect Aboriginal artwork for you.

Important details such as size, medium and price are visible for every piece. We’ve also incorporated a lot of great tools, such as our ‘see art on wall’ or ‘rotate artwork’ options.

About the Collection

Kate Owen Gallery is proud to have showcased Aboriginal art and culture to the world since 2007. Our journey to becoming one of the largest Australian Aboriginal art galleries is unique and flourished out of a passion to create a place full of ancient visual stories painted in a powerful and contemporary vein.

Kate Owen Gallery has become a space which showcases the very best of contemporary Indigenous art. It is a place where people can enjoy them, be seduced by them, take them home, and begin their own journey into understanding and respecting Aboriginal people.

Artworks are drawn from our own dedicated art studio in Alice Springs, Aboriginal owned Art Centres, independent Indigenous artists working in their own studios and from other trusted independent art dealers.

The art critic Robert Hughes famously stated that Aboriginal art is the “the last great art movement of the 20th century” and it really is quite spectacular. We are so lucky to work with some incredible artists who masterfully express the world’s oldest continuing culture in such beautiful, original and intriguing ways.

A Wide and Wonderful Range of Artworks

In the past our gallery exclusively showcased Aboriginal paintings, predominately from the central desert and western desert regions.

This is a special part of Australia where our Director has strong relationships to some of the most famous Aboriginal artists working today, who paint the stories of their Country using the iconic Aboriginal dot painting technique, or the mesmerising bush medicine leaves style.

In recent years we have expanded our offering, and now present the most exciting Indigenous artworks available in a multitude of mediums.

This includes Aboriginal art prints, sculptures, as well as paintings using traditional ochres, or contemporary artworks inspired by ancient artistic expressions such as rock art, bark painting, or larrakitji poles.

Quality Indigenous art comes from all parts of Australia. We are actively working with different communities from every corner of Australia to showcase the broadest range of artists and styles possible.

Browsing Our Collections

In order to fully enjoy our gallery’s unique and comprehensive range of quality art, we have presented them in the following collections and themes that we trust will help you find the styles and ranges that appeal to you.

If you know of a particular Indigenous artist and would like to view works by them, then the Browse Paintings by Artist is a great option. Artists are ordered alphabetically by their first name.

Artworks for sale at the gallery can range in price from $195 all the way to $1million. Our shop by price page allows you to view our entire collection by price limits, which can be very helpful when you have a particular budget in mind.

If you love a bargain, then the Art on Sale page is for you. We have over 200 beautiful pieces on sale every day. You can either scroll through the entire sale collection or browse by % discount. Sale pieces do tend to move very quickly, so please indicate your interest promptly to avoid disappointment.

Our collector and investment paintings are a superb collection of museum quality and highly collectable Indigenous Australian art. Our staff have over 50 years combined experience in art consultancy, and this album has been carefully selected by them.

All of the works are available for purchase and come with industry leading documentation. You can find works by Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Clifford Possum and many other famous Aboriginal artists.

We have also created a suite of themes to help narrow down our vast collection. Whether you’re a fan of bright, bold and colourful Indigenous art, or prefer a minimalistic black and white piece, exploring our extensive range of themes can assist you in finding the piece that’s exactly right for you.

We understand that for many designers and homeowners, the dominant colour tones in an artwork is an important factor in selecting the perfect piece. That is why we have grouped all our artworks by Colour Themes.

You can also explore our entire selection by Regions and Communities. Many areas have become synonymous with a unique style; whether it be the earthy restraint of ochre artworks from the Kimberley region, or the bold contrasting colours of Yuendumu community.
